Oktoberfest is a Bavarian festival dating from 1810 to honor the marriage of the
Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, to Princess Therese of Bavaria on October 12, 1810. The citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. Today the festival is held during the sixteen days leading up to the first Sunday in October. Oktoberfest beer is traditionally a Marzen style Lager; here at Cape Ann Brewing we put our own spin on this traditional style. Incorporating a step mash into the mashing process giving this beer a wonderfully smooth mouth feel.
